Musica Viva Australia has announced The Fritzi Trio as the winner of Strike A Chord 2024. 
Hailing from Sydney NSW and Melbourne VIC, the ensemble has been awarded the Robert Salzer First 
Prize, worth $5,000.

Musica Viva Australia has announced Affinity Quartet as the winner of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition 2023. Affinity Quartet, formed in Melbourne, has  been awarded the Monash University Grand Prize ($30,000), the Robert Salzer Foundation String Quartet 1^st Prize  ($30,000) and the Audience Prize for String Quartet ($8,000).

Musica Viva Australia have announced Amogus Trio as the winners of Strike A Chord 2021. Hailing from Queensland, the ensemble has been awarded the Robert Salzer Prize, worth $5,000.

Created in 2020 in celebration of Musica Viva's 75th anniversary, Strike A Chord is a chamber music competition open to all secondary students across Australia. With the aim of developing the skills of young musicians, the Competition provides an opportunity for students to explore their creativity and strengthen their ability to work collaboratively in an ensemble.

One of the world’s leading recorder players, Genevieve Lacey, and one of Australia’s most sensational harpists, Marshall McGuire, will bring the unique combination of recorder and harp to stages across the country in Bower, from the 10th to 26th July.

Carefully curated by Musica Viva’s Artistic Director Paul Kildea, the trio features three extraordinarily talented soloists, brought together for the very first time to perform works by Mozart and Brahms.

The newly announced funding supports work in Mount Gambier (SA), Warrnambool/Port Fairy (VIC) and Mount Isa (QLD), increasing the number of musicians and artists employed, as well as the regional community level reach of the national organisation.
